Visceral Manipulation
Visceral Manipulation, also known as organ-specific myofascial release, is a gentle, precise, manual therapy that encourages normal mobility and motility of our organs and their associated connective tissue. Restrictions can occur from surgical procedures, the result of illness, dysfunctional postural habits, or physical injuries such as falls, concussions, or car accidents. These restrictions can result in not just musculoskeletal issues, but they can sometimes be responsible for issues like gastroesophageal reflux, difficulties with digestion or elimination, shortness of breath, or general aches and pains that are not related to an underlying systemic issue. Identifying an internal restriction is based on evaluating a persons movements, flexibility, and alignment, their reporting of symptoms, and gentle palpation.
These gentle manipulations can potentially restore healthier functioning of a restricted organ and create greater ease of movement, boosting a person's overall health, energy and sense of wellbeing.

NEUral MANIPULATion/visceral vascular manipuation
Nerves and arteries function optimally when they are able to move freely within their surrounding environment in the body. Just like our viscera, nerves and arteries are imbedded in fascia, and can become restricted or compressed as a result of falls, physical traumas, such as car or bicycle accidents, any kind of physical force, faulty postural habits or chronic muscle contractions. Both Neural and Vascular Manipulation can release restrictions along the path of a nerve or artery via gentle and precise engagement and stretching.
Therapeutic Yoga
Yoga is an ages old system of movement, intelligently designed to stretch, strengthen, balance and create space in our spine, joints, muscles and internal systems, as well as foster a deeper connection to ourselves. When a person is recovering from an injury, and wanting to restore ease of movement in their body, yoga asanas can serve as a powerful tool towards reaching that goal. Modifications to an asana, specific for the individual, are made in my treatment sessions, in order to improve flexibility, balance, strength and general mobility.
Myofascial Release
Myofascial release is a gentle, hands-on, manual therapy technique that releases restrictions in the fascial system in order to restore normal movement and eliminate pain. Fascia is a very thin, extremely strong layer of tissue that is continuous from head to toe and encapsulates every muscle, bone, nerve, artery, vein and organ in our body. Because of the interconnectedness of fascia, pain can be referred to seemingly unrelated parts of the body. When trauma, inflammatory responses, and/or surgical procedures create restrictions in the fascia, normal functioning can be inhibited, thus creating pain and movement restrictions.
Through gentle, sustained stretch, and subsequent release of this tissue, these restrictions can be resolved, bringing relief to chronic problems. For more information about Myofascial Release, go to www.myofascialrelease.com.
Biodynamic Craniosacral Therapy
Biodynamic craniosacral therapy has its roots in osteopathic medicine although it is not a manipulative therapy. It is a gentle hands on modality that supports nervous system regulation, and the overall health of a person.
In a treatment session, the person is fully clothed and made comfortable either on a treatment table or a chair, whichever is more comfortable for the person. Throughout the session, the therapist contacts the person through a variety of hand holds with the intention of being present to the client in a quiet, nonjudgemental, supportive manner.
Given our hectic world, having the opportunity to be energetically held, without an agenda or goal outside of simply being, is rare. This kind of session can be calming, healing and relaxing. It can stimulate insight if dealing with difficult issues; physical, emotional or mental. One’s autonomic nervous system slows in this kind of therapeutic session, and that in and of itself, can have healing effects. After a biodynamic session, a client often reports being deeply relaxed, and more grounded and comfortable in their body than they have felt in a long time.
Biodynamic sessions can be helpful in and of themselves, but also when used in conjunction with other modalities to address a variety of issues: headaches, TMJ issues, digestive issues, chronic pain, etc.
